WINNING COACH
For Melanie DewBerry-Jones, hunches are to be followed; even the dangerous ones. She was leading a workshop at San Quentin prison that brought the ideas of personal coaching…
LETTER FROM THE HEART
Soul coaching means connecting with the humanity of your clients. What I love about fall is the preparation for completion. Fall is alive with the cycle of life, death and rebirth as leaves turn wondrous colors and return to the ground from whence they originated…
SOUL SENSES
How to Be Intuitively Present Clients want to be seen but not just by our eyes. Seeing one another means leaving the world of the five senses to enter the sacred world of divine connection…
COACHING FOR YOUR AGENDA
The client’s alignment to wholeness as a foundational approach I have an agenda for my clients. I’m very clear about and committed to adhering to this agenda. I’d like you to consider having an agenda for your clients.
LANGUAGE FOR LISTENING
Sacred Words For The Journey “I look for ways to make the conversation between my client and me sustainable“
TO BE OR NOT TO BE
Listening for the Boundaries of Coaching “I encourage you to discontinue coaching someone who refuses to get the help they need”
SPEED DATING YOURSELF
How to be in love with the real you and become the mainfestor you are “Do you know the real you?”
CAN YOU SPARE SOME CHANGE?
Helping clients move beyond the fear of pain “What creates and sustains change?”
FROM LOCKDOWN TO LEGACY
Coaching the soul in bureaucratic environments “Each person, regardless of their circumstances, has two legacies-an inherited one, and one to leave for others when they die.”
USING THE “S” WORD IN COACHING
Beyond the nay-saying ego lies the spiritual side of coaching “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.”
LIFE’S COMPANION – FEAR
Are our moments of joy derived from a fear-based perspective? “Fear is the number one thing that runs our clients’ lives. Fear is omnipresent. From feeling just a little afraid to actual terror, all fear is the same size if it stops a client from moving forward.”
ABUNDANT EXPECTATIONS
We create a spiritual life by replacing doubt with trust “As a frequent speaker on spiritual topics, I have given much thought to how audiences and readers can make those quantum leaps forward. In my speeches, I try to avoid explaining the value of spirituality or even the “how-to” of being spiritual – mainly because I’m still figuring it out, just like my audience.”
PATIENCE
The Path of Mindfulness and Commitment “Why is it so difficult to hold steadfast to a commitment – to the very thing we desire? I’m sure you’ve had the experience of challenging your client with something to do, or to be, in service of moving them closer to their heart’s desire. As you reconvene again and again, you note that the client can’t seem to stay committed to the steps that will realize their dreams. Certainly the age-old response is fear – but perhaps there is more going on.”
LIFTING THE VEIL ON ANGER
Perhaps anger is covering up something deeper. Like not owning the right to choose. “The other day one of my “challenging clients” and I were debating the appropriateness of anger. While maintaining my perspective, I was also enjoying listening to his commitment to anger.”
BRING ME A HIGHER LOVE
Melanie DewBerry-Jones uses the words of a song to illustrate how “Love” is an effective coaching tool “There must be a higher love/Without it life is wasted time.” Those are the opening words to one of my favorite Steve Winwood songs. What could a higher love mean in your life – in the life of your clients?”
THE ACTS OF SELF-NAMING AND CLAIMING
“As a trainer of coaches, I often teach my students to move beyond the skill of coaching into the skill of self-trusting. Having great mastery of a specific skill is important, but with out self-mastery all we become are manipulators of openended questions. Coaching is much more than that.”
TRUST AND THE PIPE CARRIER
“Spiritual leadership engages me in my business dealings and my ceremonial life. In the traditional native community I am one of many pipe carriers. This responsibility is a privilege, and has taught me that being responsible to one’s truth has its own rewards.
I was given a pipe as part of my first vision quest, a four-day solo experience where one sits or stands in one spot in prayer and communication with the Creator. Many truths were revealed to me, including that I was to leave my native circle. I was told that love was the only teacher I would need and my teacher, although wise, lived on the underbelly of anger.
SURRENDER – WHY WOULD I WANT TO DO THAT
Seeing opportunities instead of challenges “Surrender is a bit like following the yellow brick road. It’s allowing all that is to support all that you are. All paths lead to a client’s success. How do you want to get there, the hard way or the easy way?”
